Mount Gibson Iron Limited is an established independent Australian producer of premium quality direct shipping iron ore (DSO) with assets in the Kimberley and Mid-West regions of Western Australia.
Mount Gibson's flagship operation is the Koolan Island mine, located approximately 140km north of Derby in the Buccaneer Archipelago in the Kimberley. The mine is Australia's highest-grade producer of direct-shipping grade hematite, with an average Ore Reserve grade of 65.5% Fe.

About the role:
We are now seeking to employ an experienced Pump Fitter at our Koolan Island Operation on a 7 Days / 7 Nights / 7 Days R&R (12.5-hour days) roster from Perth, Broome, or Derby.
Reporting directly to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the primary focus of this role is to perform maintenance, service, and breakdown repairs on all Pumps, dewatering and related ancillary equipment, or as required on Koolan Island. This is a primarily autonomous role, where your initiative, resourcefulness, and ability to manage your workload will be assets.

Encourage the implementation of agreed findings of both internal and external audits. Ensure the recording, reporting and feedback of information is completed in an accurate and timely manner. Identify potential environmental issues and ensure that action is initiated to mitigate these. Demonstrate an awareness of cost control and assist to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Daily entry and release, Update of work orders and communicate job status. Maintain awareness and commitment to key company policies relevant to your area through your own and your team's behaviours.Develop and retain the relevant competencies and expertise within your area of work. To be successful in this role, you'll need: Trade certificate in a Mechanical Engineering Discipline. Current HR Driver's License, or equivalent. Minimum 2 years (post qualifying) experience in a similar position. Previous mining experience is preferred. Experience on Caterpillar, Cummins, Deutz and Yanmar Engines is desirable. Tru-Flow, Cornell, Pioneer, and BBA Wet End experience is desirable. Excellent Mechanical and Electrical diagnostic skills. Fire suppression experience is desirable. Parts interpretation experience. Forklift competency, or the capability to obtain this competency. Current Senior First Aid, or the capability to obtain this qualification. Demonstrated compliance to company OHS. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to carry out instructions with minimal Supervision. Ability to effectively liaise with other departments Ability to work with other trades to perform effective Maintenance and repairs Demonstrate a positive attitude, reflecting the values of Mt Gibson Iron and the Koolan Island Mine site.
