About the Role
Are you passionate about fostering a culture of safety and health in the workplace?
As a Safety Officer , you'll play a key role in supporting OMTID's mission to implement and improve Safety Management Systems that align with WHS legislation and PTA/Mainroads standards.
Your collaborative approach will empower employees and contractors, helping them understand and meet safety requirements through advice, audits, investigations, and training.

You'll lead initiatives to encourage a proactive safety culture, conduct ergonomic assessments, and implement control strategies to minimize risks while supporting the ongoing development of our robust Safety Management Systems.
In this dynamic role, you'll work closely with management, staff, and contractors, providing expert guidance and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.

From coordinating WHS Committee functions to mentoring team members and developing safety communications, you'll be at the forefront of driving best practices in safety and health.

About You!

To excel in this role, you should have:
A relevant safety qualification at a minimum AQF Certificate IV level and experience in WHS office-based issues, ideally within rail or construction environments; Strong ability to interpret and implement contemporary Safety Management Systems, applying safety principles to comply with WHS, Rail Safety laws, and Australian Standards; Demonstrated skills in research, analysis, and problem-solving, with a proven ability to develop practical solutions and manage competing priorities independently; Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, with familiarity in safety systems such as SAI360 or EQSafe, and excellent communication, facilitation, and report-writing abilities.
