Public Health Clinician - Rheumatic Fever StrategyYour opportunity. Be part of something bigger.This full-time, fixed term (until 30 June 2025) role supports the Rheumatic Fever Strategy (RFS) Program in the implementation of clinical activities aimed at improving the prevention and management of Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) across remote Indigenous communities in East Arnhem. The position will be based in Darwin or Nhulunbuy, with fortnightly travel to remote clinics in Galiwin'ku, Gapuwiyak, Milingimbi, and Ramingining. Key responsibilities include providing clinical outreach, delivering LABicilin injections, and supporting both pediatric and adult cardiology clinics. The role also involves training and upskilling community health workers, supporting culturally appropriate health promotion, and contributing to the development of sustainable follow-up and recall processes for ARF/RHD clients. Collaboration with the Public Health team and providing case-conferencing care engagement for adherence support are essential aspects of this role.Benefits:A competitive base salary of $107,505 – $114,863 per annum pro rata + 11.5% Superannuation.5 weeks annual leave pro rata.Ability to salary package up to $15,900 per annum plus a further $2,650 per annum on Meals and Entertainment.About MiwatjMiwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.Minimum Requirements:Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of Aboriginal Community Control and the unique challenges faced by Yol?u people in remote areas. A current registration as a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner with AHPRA, along with a Remote Pharmacotherapeutic certificate, is required. Applicants must have at least five years of experience working in remote Indigenous contexts, showcasing skills in staff development, clinical leadership, and adherence to best practice public health principles. Strong communication, time management, and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders are vital. Additionally, a current Ochre Card and demonstrated commitment to supporting Indigenous communities in promoting health and wellbeing are essential.Vaccination & Immunity ScreeningMiwatj Health is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all workers and users of its healthcare centres.
