About us The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the role The Public Affairs Manager is responsible for the development of long-term proactive and reactive media strategies as well as building and maintaining strong relationships with metropolitan and regional media. The role provides timely and high-quality advice to the Chief Magistrate and Chief Executive Officer in relation to media engagement strategies and issues management and works closely with staff engaged in Intranet and website management, digital strategy, and internal and external communications.
Key Responsibilities Lead strategic media and public affairs initiatives, representing the organisation in high-profile engagements and shaping long-term media relations. Provide expert leadership and guidance to a small media team, managing complex and high-pressure media enquiries in a fast-paced environment. Play a key role in crisis communication, navigating reputational risks and collaborating closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders. About you A relevant tertiary qualification in communication, public relations or related discipline, or relevant experience in media and or communications.
