Psychology Registrar Orygen Specialist Program Develop your specialist clinical skills in our two-year Youth Mental Health Early Career Program for Graduate Psychologists.Full-time 2 Year fixed-term position, based across Orygen Specialist Program's sites in northwestern Melbourne.Join a renowned youth mental health organisation with opportunities in research, training, clinical practice and more.Make a positive impact in the lives of young people and their families.Your new team: Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of Melbourne Health, provides mental health services to young people aged 12-25 years and their families in Melbourne's northwest and western suburbs.
OSP's Entry Level Program (ELP) develops clinical psychology, clinical neuropsychology, and forensic psychology registrars into skilled and experienced mental clinicians, through a structured and well-supported learning program in a clinical practice environment.
Your new role: Over a course of two years, the psychology registrar will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within OSP's clinical services. Throughout the program, you will:
Develop a thorough understanding of the broad range of psychiatric presentations, psychological assessments and intervention skills required to work effectively in a public mental health setting.Be supported in the transition from provisional psychologist to early career fully registered psychologist.Be supported to achieve the required competencies for relevant area of practice endorsement.About you: Eligible for full registration as a psychologist with AHPRA.Eligible to begin the PsyBA registrar pathway for an area of practice endorsement in clinical psychology, clinical neuropsychology, or forensic psychology.Enthusiastic about engaging in discipline-specific structured education, learning, supervision, and support within multidisciplinary teams.Able to develop, implement, and evaluate client-centred individual service plans, risk assessments, and diagnostic formulations.Able to provide psychological care and case management to support young people to meet their goals.Benefits of Orygen Specialist Program's Early Career Program for Graduate Psychologists: The program has a range of supports that are over and above those required in the Psychology EBA or by the Psychology Board of Australia, including:
Two 12-month clinical rotations across OSP's clinical services.Weekly supervision and regular group supervision.A range of continuing professional development opportunities above those in the standard EBA entitlement, including:Up to 10 professional development days in year one for approved training, designed to:Support registrars to work with common presentations in young people seen at OSP (e.g. CBT for Psychosis, Relational Formulation, Understanding and Working with Autism in Young People, Early Intervention for Personality Disorder).Support early career psychologists to develop broader skills and knowledge to support their work in public health.Discovery days each year to spend a day in one or more other service settings.Practical supports to enhance opportunities for reflection and learning (e.g. dedicated time for supported self-directed learning in year 1, with a reduced clinical caseload to facilitate this).Support from experienced psychology supervisors, and a specialist psychology educator to support you in your skill development.Five weeks of annual leave, monthly ADOs, and salary packaging.To view the full Position Description, please click HERE.
