About the Department for Correctional Services
The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state.

Duties
Accountable to the Executive Director, Offender Development to provide strategic and systems view leadership and best practice management of a multi-disciplinary team within the Sentence Management Unit (SMU).
Provide strategic, clinical and operational oversight of evidence-based assessment, sentence planning, case-planning and review functions.
Ensure relevant and timely referral to education and rehabilitation programs to address risk of re-offending.
Oversee departmental offender management committees such as the Serious Offender and Home Detention committees.
Manage assessment, applications and management of High-risk (violent, sexual and/or terrorist) offenders in line with the High Risk Offenders Act and Criminal Law (Sentencing) Act and Commonwealth legislation.
Oversee sentence management and prisoner transfer processes between prisons.
Conduct forensic/clinical psychology assessments, brief individual and group interventions.
Ensure accurate, timely and efficient warrants management by the Sentence Administration Team.
Special Conditions
Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.
The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check.
A current South Australian Driver's Licence is essential.
A flexible approach to working hours is required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences.
Out of hours may be required.
The position of Director, Sentence Management Unit is a designated position pursuant to Policy 65- Designated Positions.
Requirements
Essential: A master's degree in psychology and registered under the Psychology Board of Australia; or an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Desirable: Appropriate post graduate qualifications in Business Management, Human Services or other relevant discipline.

Remuneration
AHP5 ($127,346 - $139,281 pa)
