Primary Objective: Provide mental health assessments and interventions to address the wellbeing and treatment needs of Northern Territory Police (NTP) and Northern Territory Fire and Emergency Service (NTFES) personnel and their families.
Consult with and provide advice to NTP/NTFES operations on personnel management and support.
Context Statement: Wellbeing Services supports the emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing of all NTP and NTFES employees, volunteers, and their immediate family members.
It is a multidisciplinary team incorporating peer supporters, psychologists, social workers, chaplains, and rehabilitation advisors, providing a holistic health service within a stepped care model.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Consult with and provide advice to agency management and operations on best practice mental health and personnel management.Assess clients to identify treatment and support needs, utilising standardised psychometric assessments and structured clinical judgement.Develop and deliver a range of health promotion and education products.Provide consultancy on suitability for selection and participate in interview panels for NTP/NTFES operational personnel.Maintain professional records, statistical data, and appropriate case notes on all client-related matters.Participate in the 24/7 on-call roster and travel throughout the NT to deliver psychological services.Selection Criteria: Essential: Hold and maintain current, unconditional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, or a Bachelor of Social Work or other qualification meeting membership requirements of the Australian Association of Social Workers.Proven experience in the development and delivery of health promotion and education products.Experience in professional practice as a mental health practitioner with emphasis on case management, assessment, and providing evidence-informed treatment for high prevalence psychological disorders.Commitment to working within a multidisciplinary team and ongoing professional development.Understanding of issues relevant to working within a first responder operational environment.Hold a current Northern Territory drivers' licence and current Working with Children Clearance Notice (Ochre Card) or ability to obtain one.Further Information: This position attracts a professional development allowance, paid supervision, and six weeks of annual recreational leave.
