Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated understanding of common approaches, policies, programs and research relating to student wellbeing and behaviour

Role A Psychologist provides high level support addressing the needs of individuals and groups of students and works within the Disability Inclusion and Wellbeing Team, led by the Assistant Principal. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate evidence of an appropriate psychology qualification.
The Psychologist is required to:
Provide high level psychology support services to school age students to improve student behaviourSupport teachers in the development of educational programs, particularly regarding students exhibiting challenging behaviourAdminister appropriate assessment and provide written reports, adjustments and recommendations to staff and families on program delivery, as well as supporting documentation for Disability Inclusion Profile meetingsPrioritise and manage work demands and adhere to school-based processesCommunicate effectively with a range of peopleReport to, and provide advice and recommendations to senior leadership on relevant mattersResponsibilitiesPlan and implement evidence-based intervention strategies for students with complex needs and challenging behaviour, including collaborating with families, other professionals and agencies when appropriateWork collaboratively within the Wellbeing Team to contribute to policies and operational practices that will guide the work of others, including other school wellbeing staff and teachersProvide professional learning to colleagues, to build the capacity of schools to improve students learning, behaviour and developmental outcomes as requiredProvide professional plans and documents requiring in-depth factual analysis, including recommendations as evidence for Disability Inclusion Profile requestsMaintain accurate and detailed case notes and student files in accordance with school and DE guidelinesProvide in classroom support to students who display complex behavioursAttend Student Support Group and Care Team meetings as requiredWho May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.

Location ProfileMorwell Central Primary School is located close to the Morwell Leisure Centre precinct, in the Latrobe Valley area of Gippsland. The current enrolment is 402 students with a teaching staff of 34 and 35 support staff. The school believes that for students to be successful and Ready to Learn, staff need to build student's learning and coping strategies, increase their ability to remain emotionally regulated, and to help them recognise and understand their reactions and responses.
