Psychologist (Gender Service) Department of Adolescent MedicineFriendly and supportive team environmentThis is a Permanent Part Time position at 0.60EFT, 45.6 hours per fortnight within the Adolescent Medicine Department. You will be required to work three outpatient clinics on Thursday and Friday and the other day is flexible.
You will be responsible for providing high quality evidence-based assessment treatment and support to children & young people referred to the Gender Service and their families, participate in the clinical evaluation and research activities of the RCH Gender Service, contribute to team meetings and activities related to service planning, development and improvement, and contribute to the development of community-based services for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents, including provision of education. Grade 3 Psychologists will be required to provide supervision to other Grade 2 Psychologists within the team.
Classification for this position will range from PK1 - PL4 (depending on experience)
What you'll achieve: Function independently as a clinical psychologist, within the Gender Service team, and maintain a clinical case load as directed.Provide evidence-informed psychological practice to patients referred to the Gender Service with gender concerns, gender non-conforming behaviour, and gender dysphoria in a tertiary setting, by providing expert clinical and psychological assessment, clinical formulation, and diagnosis.Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and timely patient records that accurately reflect clinical consultations and decisions including diagnosis, treatment plans, complications, co-morbidities, and reports.Contribute to service improvements across the range of activities of the Gender Service including the research and evaluation programme conducted in collaboration with the Gender Service research group.Attend case conferences, peer review meetings, and seminars pertaining to the Gender Service.Participate in peer supervision and clinical supervision.Provide effective supervision to Grade 2 psychologists, psychology registrars, and psychology interns as appropriate.Your skills and experience Hold a minimum Master of Psychology degree qualification from an accredited course/university.Be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA).Continuously satisfy the PsyBA continuing professional development standards.Uphold the PsyBA Code of Ethics.Hold an Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology, or be working towards an Area of Practice endorsement in Clinical Psychology with PsyBA.Experience in psychological assessment and treatment including advanced knowledge of at least one major therapeutic modality.Substantial knowledge of psychological and developmental disorders and the effects on children, young people, and their families.Have a minimum of five years professional experience.Hold Board-approved supervisor status, including Board-approval as a 'Registrar Program Principal Supervisor'.Have experience working in a mental health setting with children, adolescents, and families.Experience working with individuals who are transgender, gender diverse, non-binary, and/or are experiencing gender distress.A professional demeanour and caring and ethical approach to clinical practice.A respectful and sensitive approach to colleagues, other professionals, and to children and their families.If this sounds like you, click here to view the position description in the below link:
The RCH Gender Service is a Victorian state-wide service providing multidisciplinary care for trans and gender diverse (TGD) children and adolescents up to 16 years of age. The assessment, treatment, and support provided by the Gender Service is consistent with the Australian Standards of Care and Treatment Guidelines for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents (v1.4 2023).
