Learn more about our network here: https://www.schn.health.nsw.gov.au/ Employment Type : Temporary Remuneration : Public Hospital Medical Officers (State) Award Registrar Year 1 - Year 4 Hours Per Week : 38 Requisition ID : CAM21675 Provisional Fellow positions in Paediatric Anaesthesia are available at The Children's Hospital at Westmead for up to 12 months for the 2025 Clinical Year, available to commence from 03 February 2025 or 04 August 2025. The primary purpose the position is to provide advanced level anaesthetic practice in a complex clinical environment, whilst under supervision as part of the advanced training program of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. Provisional Fellows are expected to demonstrate a higher level of knowledge and skills commensurate with entrance to the fellowship year across key areas of anaesthetics, including: • anaesthesia and sedation • regional anaesthesia • airway management • pain medicine • perioperative medicine • resuscitation • trauma and crisis management The Provisional Fellow will provide effective services to paediatric patients with increasing autonomy, while developing expertise in paediatric anaesthetic practice in a complex clinical environment; assist in ensuring that the service provided to patients and their families in NSW and beyond is of the highest quality, sustainable, flexible and transparent; and develop clinical proficiency in the care of children with complex health problems. Selection Criteria: MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category. A minimum of 4 (four) full years of postgraduate experience, including completion of 2 (two) years of basic training under the ANZCA training program. ANZCA Second Part Exam or equivalent. Four months experience in Paediatric Anaesthetics or equivalent preferable. Commitment to a future career involving Paediatric anaesthesia. Excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals. Understanding of, and demonstrated commitment to, clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management. Understanding of research methodology or research experience and a willingness to undertake research proposals. Demonstrated contribution to the development of hospital services e.g. participation in Paediatric Junior Staff matters, representation on behalf of the Hospital, participation in Hospital Committees; and demonstrated ongoing commitment to further education and professional development with demonstrated ability to teach, and willingness to participate in the teaching of, Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff.
