The Office has a number of immediate vacancies at the P3, P2 and P1 levels and maintains a talent pool of successful applicants to select from for future appointments.These are challenging yet rewarding roles; your comprehensive knowledge of and experience in criminal law, practice and procedure and your advocacy and advanced communication skills will ensure the delivery of a professional criminal prosecution service to the people of the Northern Territory.Your primary objective will be to provide the people of the Northern Territory of Australia with an independent and professional criminal prosecution service.Key duties:Provide quality legal advice to DPP and to both internal and external stakeholders relating to summary prosecution cases.Conduct and appear in criminal proceedings including sentences and breaches in the Supreme Court, and committal and summary hearings in the Local Court and Youth Court.Maintain carriage of complex criminal prosecutions, and instruct in Supreme Court trials.Essential Criteria:High level communication and advocacy skills.Knowledge of and experience in criminal law, practice and procedure including Uniformed Evidence Law.Good organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure to tight and changeable deadlines.In return, you will receive a competitive salary, inclusive of superannuation, six weeks recreational and three weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, career development, supported study and the opportunity to experience the uniqueness of living and working in the Northern Territory.This is a great time to consider moving to the Territory.
