Directly reporting to the Manager City Safety & Compliance and alongside a positive team, we are seeking a motivated individual to lead the timely preparation, review, and management of prosecutions.

About the RoleManage and deliver Council's prosecution functions to ensure efficient service delivery and compliance with Council's statutory obligations. This includes:
Collaborating with regulatory teams within Council including Traffic, Planning Investigations, Building, Local Laws, Animal Management, Litter & Environmental Health.The preparation of briefs, charge and summons and supporting documents.Representing Council as required in magistrates court or VCAT.Provide internal advice to statutory business units.Skills & ExperienceCourt Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of VCAT and the Magistrates Court procedures related to compliance and prosecution matters.A tertiary qualification in law, legislative compliance, enforcement, or related discipline with several years' experience, or a higher qualification with specialised experience, or lesser formal qualification(s) with substantial experience in a relevant field.CultureAs a progressive leader in Local Government, Darebin City Council is passionate about social inclusion, sustainability, engagement, and service excellence.
