As part of this business, you will be given a chance to learn, grow and develop your skills in people and process management whilst contributing to the ongoing improvement of the current nursery operations.
The role itself? Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the successful person will need to:
Production maximisation without affecting quality of the end product Ensure all staff are following best practice protocols, SOPs and work instructions Ensure that plant maintenance is kept to an optimal level (Weeding, de-feathering, debagging) Ensure delivered rootstock condition is maintained at an optimal level for grafting Prioritise workload in order to achieve production KPI's & quality targets Coordinate the collection of cuttings (bud wood) on site (as well as off-site if required) Manipulate propagation environments to maximise strike rate Ensure regular maintenance to irrigation systems related to propagation Plan and monitor stock levels through the different propagation facilities Monitor & treat pest and diseases in propagation areas Implement integrated pest management program as required Weekly involvement in a leadership meeting on progress of the propagation program, along with any issues Train and manage a propagation staff of up to 15 team members Monitor daily output & ensure records are up to date; electronically and paper form Ensure all stock produced is labelled in accordance with guidelines Develop and maintain comprehensive records for propagation Develop and maintain clear communication with the production team Raise tunnel infrastructure maintenance issues as they arise Follow company OHS rules and regulations What kind of person will fit the role? To be considered for this position you must have:
Past eT+3 years propagation experience in a commercial nursery (+100,000 trees/yr) Current driver's license including MR or HR license Commercial Spray Operators License; Chemcert accreditation; High Risk Work License – Forklift Operation A person with strong accuracy, attention to detail and analytical skills A confident, calculated professional with an innate ability to self-reflect and assess How will you be rewarded?
