The RoleThe Strategy and Planning Branch within the Strategy, Planning and Independent Assurance Division, Capability Acquisition Sustainment Group (CASG) are seeking APS 6s to join our teams.In light of the recent uplift of CASG Program Management Function within the Branch, there are a number of opportunities to recruit proactive and motivated APS 6s to support various initiatives within the areas of:Risk Management Planning and Scheduling Cost Forecasting and BudgetingEarned Value Management (EVM)Program, Project and Product Management Policy.Project Support Officers will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.They will provide detailed project technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.APS 6 Project Support Officers will also have a considerable level of complex stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues.They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.We intend to create a merit pool which will be leveraged throughout the year to fill vacancies across the Branch.About our TeamStrategy and Planning Branch is responsible for best practice in Program, Project and Product Management and for leading and defining new ways of doing business that is responsive to Defence's future capability requirements.Program Management Function within Strategy and Planning Branch are leading improvements in Project Management & Project Controls, to strengthen the following areas: Planning and Scheduling; Cost Forecasting and Budgeting; Risk Management; and Project Management professionalisation.Our Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidate will be a positive, team player, willing to learn, have a strong attention to detail, be able to adapt efficiently to changes in workload and committed to providing consistent high-quality support to various Branch initiatives.If you also possess the following skills, then we encourage you to apply: Strong communication skills;Structuring messages clearly and succinctly, both orally and in writing;Provide project management support and facilitate administrative and coordination requirements;Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action;Engage with internal and external stakeholders and Projects/Products as required to assist with business requirements;Ability to understand and apply application of relevant policy and procedures;Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities;Have sound analytical skills to develop and recommend options that achieve optimal Defence outcomes;Strong task management and prioritisation skills and;Strong collaboration skills.
