The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent government agency which, in partnership with Basin governments, manages the Murray–Darling Basin's water resources in the national interest. The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Murray–Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia's economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 50 First Nations.

The Position

The Project Support Officer works within the Basin Plan Review Program Management Office (BPR PMO) to support all secretariat, finance, procurement, coordination, and business communications activities for the program.

The Project Support Officer is responsible for supporting the BPR PMO project management team by handling administrative tasks, coordinating project activities, and ensuring the effective execution of Basin Plan Review projects. This role is key to maintaining project documentation, communication, and general project and program organisation.

Your key responsibilities in this role are to: Project Administration, Documentation and Reporting:Maintain and update project documents, records, and files.Prepare and distribute project reports (status updates, progress reports, etc.).Track project deliverables, timelines, and milestones.Assist in preparing presentations, meeting minutes, and project-related correspondence.Perform general administrative tasks such as document control, filing, and data entry.Project Coordination:Schedule and organise project meetings, including coordination with stakeholders and team members.Support the project team with the preparation of project plans, proposals, and budgets.Assist in resource planning and allocation.Risk and Issue Tracking:Support maintenance of the project risk and issue log.Ensure timely identification and documentation of risks and issues.Assist in the coordination of risk mitigation activities.Project Communication:Act as the point of contact for project-related queries and communication.Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.Ensure project team members are informed of important updates and changes.Tools and Software Management:Manage and maintain project management tools, ensuring data is accurate and up to date.Provide technical support to the project team for project management software and tools.
Successful candidates will also possess the following capabilities and attributes:Project management qualification desirable but not essential.Experience in project administration or coordination roles.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Attention to detail and ability to handle complex tasks.
