The role
This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).
The Project Support Officer Aboriginal Land Strategy plays a crucial role in supporting various projects related to land dealings and Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs). Key responsibilities of the role include research, analysis, reporting, and other administrative duties to ensure projects are delivered effectively and in compliance with relevant legislation.

In this role, you may be challenged with managing multiple project support activities in a high-pressure, politically sensitive environment, and developing strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure project goals are met. This role also requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the Native Title Act 1993 and the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 to ensure all processes are compliant and culturally appropriate.

What is an essential requirement:

This is an Identified role under the Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:
is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
Sensitivity to and understanding of Aboriginal Culture and an excellent understanding of Aboriginal community governance and structures.
