Job Summary:
The Project Supervisor (SMP) is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day site operations related to structural, mechanical, and piping activities on construction and Maintenance projects. The role includes ensuring work is executed according to plans, specifications, safety standards, and project schedules. The Site Supervisor will manage site personnel, coordinate with subcontractors, and liaise with project engineers and managers to ensure smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities: Site Supervision & Coordination: Oversee all on-site construction activities related to structural, mechanical, and piping systems, ensuring they are executed according to approved plans and specifications. Supervise site crews, including subcontractors and in-house teams, to ensure that work is completed efficiently, safely, and within schedule. Coordinate daily site activities, ensuring optimal use of manpower, materials, and equipment. Monitor progress on the worksite and adjust schedules and tasks to meet project deadlines. Ensure that all work complies with relevant standards, including ASME, API, and ASTM codes. Safety & Compliance: Promote and enforce a safety-first culture on-site, ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with company safety procedures and regulatory requirements. Conduct daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments. Ensure that all personnel are equipped with and properly using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Report any safety incidents, near misses, or hazards to the Project Manager and assist with incident investigations. Quality Control: Ensure that all structural, mechanical, and piping work is carried out to the highest quality standards and in accordance with the project specifications. Conduct regular inspections of work progress, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, methods, and quality control plans. Identify and rectify any defects or quality issues on-site and implement corrective measures as needed. Ensure proper documentation of quality control records and site reports. Resource Management: Manage and allocate resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to ensure efficient project execution. Monitor material deliveries and ensure that materials are properly stored and used efficiently on-site. Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of necessary materials and equipment. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain daily site logs, documenting progress, issues, delays, and any changes to the project scope. Prepare and submit daily and weekly progress reports to the Project Manager. Ensure that all site documentation, including permits, inspection reports, and safety records, is maintained and up to date. Assist with preparing handover documentation at project completion, including as-built drawings and test reports. Subcontractor Management: Coordinate with subcontractors and ensure they adhere to project timelines, quality standards, and safety protocols. Review subcontractor work progress and performance, and ensure that they meet contractual obligations. Provide technical support and guidance to subcontractors as required to resolve on-site issues or discrepancies. Problem-Solving & Decision Making: Address and resolve any issues that arise on-site, including design deviations, equipment failures, and unforeseen site conditions. Work closely with the Project Manager and engineering teams to develop solutions to technical problems. Make informed decisions on-site to maintain project flow and avoid unnecessary delays. Key Requirements: Education & Experience: Trade qualification in Boilermaking. 5+ years of supervisory experience in structural, mechanical, and piping projects within industries such as construction, mining, oil & gas, or heavy industry. Strong working knowledge of construction methodologies, particularly in the SMP domain. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., ASME, API, ASTM). Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple teams and tasks simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors, and clients. Thorough understanding of safety protocols and the ability to enforce them rigorously on-site. Technical proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and project specifications. Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, sound decisions on-site.
