Reporting to the Senior Project Manager in Assets Development and Delivery, the Project Superintendent is responsible for management of Construction Contractor activities in accordance with Fremantle Ports policies, standards and Major Works Contracts.
The role includes the supervision, co-ordination and collaboration with on-site construction contractors. It also includes coordination with stakeholders such as operations, tenants, customers, or other asset owners. The Project Superintendent will facilitate safe and efficient contractors' delivery to scope and project planning, working within the Fremantle Ports project team to ensure construction compliance with designs, specifications, and industry best practice.
The role encompasses construction contractor performance monitoring and reporting, safety, scope management, variation and quality control, testing, inspection and acceptance of works completed by construction contractors.
As a part of the Assets Development and Delivery team, you will provide advice and assistance to our Project Management Office, Project Manager, Project Engineers, and Major works construction Contractors whilst liaising and coordinating with the Fremantle Ports Operational teams to meets Fremantle Ports overarching requirements. You will be a key part of the development, deployment and assurance of project specific plans, procedures, Works Permitting, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) / Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA) and other control methods to ensure scoped work is delivered to the highest standards of safety, cost effectiveness and time efficient manner.

About you To be successful, you will ideally possess a minimum 5 years or more demonstrated project management or construction supervision experience.
The successful candidate will also possess Trade Qualifications in Civil, Building or Construction discipline or Tertiary Qualifications in Civil, Building, Construction, or related engineering discipline with a Builders Licence under the provisions of the Builders registration Act.
You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders on behalf of Fremantle Ports, so relationship building is key to ensure achievements of the operational objectives are met.
Qualifications in Contract Administration and or Project Management are highly desirable.
Other essential criteria: Coordination and supervisory skills with experience managing construction in industrial brownfields environment. Experience in formulating, implementing and managing construction scopes of works, specifications, scheduling and budget estimates. Project Supervision, Contract Management and Administration skills. Knowledge of statutory legislation and regulations relating to construction management. Working knowledge of high-risk construction activities, their associated Codes of Practice, Guidance Notes, Australian Standards and HSE Requirements. Well-developed knowledge of WHS Act/ Regulations and demonstrated ability to implement and ensure a safe work environment. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and regulations. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Excellent written, verbal, communication and negotiation skills. Location: Kwinana, WA with potential & regular visits to Fremantle, WA.
