As we continue to grow, so too does our team. We are looking for the right candidate to take on the role of Project Quality & Compliance Manager. This is a Full-Time role, based in our Port Macquarie office on the beautiful Hastings River in Port Macquarie, NSW.
The Project Quality & Compliance Manager will oversee the quality assurance and compliance framework for the design and manufacture of a heavy amphibious vehicle. As a key member of the Integrated Project Team (IPT), this role is responsible for ensuring project outcomes meet quality standards, regulatory compliance, and client expectations.
Key AccountabilitiesProject QualityDevelop and maintain project-specific Quality Management Systems based on client requirements and Birdon's Integrated Management System.Manage project-specific contractual, legal, and statutory quality requirements.Collaborate on project plan development and oversee quality reviews during design and production phases.Coordinate the allocation of resources within the Quality stream to support project execution.Create and manage the Quality Management Plan (QMP), ensuring all project documentation meets required quality obligations.Compliance & Regulatory SupportAdminister the NHVR portal, supporting the project team in complying with ADRs related to the heavy amphibious vehicle.Ensure that the project meets all relevant NHVR regulations and maintains certification throughout the vehicle's development lifecycle.Interpret and manage compliance with the Australian Design Rules and other manufacturing standards.Liaise with external regulators, including the NHVR, to ensure ongoing compliance and resolve any regulatory issues.Manage the compliance tracker and assist in developing and implementing controls for compliance deficiencies.Maintain effective relationships with internal engineering leads and external regulatory bodies.Audit & ReportingConduct quality audits, ensuring all compliance aspects are in line with regulatory and project-specific requirements.Monitor non-conformance reports (NCRs), track quality objectives, and provide regular status reports to management and clients.Develop weekly and monthly quality reports as required, ensuring compliance with ISO and project-specific requirements.Qualifications, Skills & ExperienceBachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical, Marine, or Automotive) or technical trade with equivalent experience.At least 5 years' experience in a quality role within technical environments.Experience in the automotive industry, with particular emphasis on ADR management and the NHVR framework.Ability to review, identify, and interpret technical requirements in project contracts and SOWs.Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.Ability to obtain NV1 security clearance.Familiarity with ASDEFCON (Australian Defence Contracting) requirements.Certifications relating to weld quality, fire proofing, and surface coatings desirable.Experience with the NHVR portal and management of an account there is highly advantageous.Formal training in project management methodologies such as Six Sigma, LEAN, or Kaizen.Experience reviewing, identifying, and interpreting technical requirements in Defence project contracts and SOWs.Certified quality auditor qualifications.We deliver value for our customers through our innovative people, organisational agility, and operational excellence.
