Location: Parramatta CBD – Hybrid flexibility Contract: Immediate start, 6 month-contract, possible further extension Salary: $544 per day + super
Our client is a statutory body established under the Aboriginal Housing Act 1998 (NSW) to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have access to affordable, quality housing.
The Role: The Project Officer (construction project managers) will manage a number of specific construction projects including procurement, quality assurance, as well as providing on-site project management support to the senior project managers.
Responsibilities: The role will work autonomously and in support of managers to deliver multiple residential construction projects across ACHP delivered and AHO delivered on behalf of the ACHP via Capital Programs at any one time. Projects range from single dwelling and duplex developments through to small-scale, multi-unit developments across NSW, including both metro and regional locations on existing AHO sites. Each project will bring with it a range of associated site complexities and have an individual stakeholder profile. The project officer will liaise with diverse stakeholders such as builders, architects, local councils and ACHPs to identify and mitigate issues and risks that could cause impediments. Travel is required across remote and regional NSW to perform quality inspections on New Build construction sites. The Project Officers will regularly liaise with diverse stakeholders such as builders, local councils and ACHPs for monitoring project delivery milestones. The role is expected to operate with a level of autonomy making day-to-day decisions relating to work priorities and workload management. Requirements: The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
Works with some supervision carrying a level of autonomy in setting own priorities in alignment with management. Maintains a degree of independence to develop a suitable approach in managing its workload and provision of advice and recommendations. Responsible for determining own actions undertaken, within government and legislative policies, and for ensuring quality control in the implementation of own workload. Ensures recommendations are based on sound evidence, and may be required to use their judgment under pressure or in the absence of complete information. Consults with manager or senior staff on suitable courses of action in matters that are sensitive, high-risk or business-critical. Essential Requirements: Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development. Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal cultural beliefs and attitudes and of the socio-economic position of Aboriginal people within Australian society, and their impacts in relation to housing. A thorough understanding of the Aboriginal political and historical impacts upon policy developments in NSW and nationally in relation to Aboriginal land rights, and Aboriginal land use.
