Project Officer - Social Inclusion Action GroupBand 6A Salary Range from $88,829.00 - $98,566.00 per annum plus superannuationOpportunity to support and improve City of Ballarat's Social Inclusion GroupThe Role:Project Officer - Social Inclusion Action GroupPosition ObjectivesThe Project Officer Social Inclusion Action Group is responsible for leading the Social Inclusion Action Group.This includes:understanding needs of the local communitybringing together community members and leaders and supporting them to have ownership of this initiativesupporting collaboration and community-based decision making through the SIAGsupporting the SIAG to make decisions about and deliver the Local Social Inclusion Investment Fund in line with SIAG objectives and local priorities.Qualifications and ExperienceA tertiary qualification in a related field such as community development, public health, health promotion, is valued.Proven record of engaging with community members in an effective manner.About You:Are you passionate about community and promoting mental health and wellbeing, social connection, and social inclusion?Social Inclusion Action Groups are a flagship prevention initiative of the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health and Wellbeing System that aim to strengthen the focus of the system towards supporting people's mental health and wellbeing earlier and in place.Ballarat will establish a Social Inclusion Action Group (SIAG) made up of local community members in early 2025.The Social Inclusion Action Group Project Officer will lead the establishment of the group and support the group to understand the needs of local community and to make decisions, coordinate and deliver activities and initiatives promoting social inclusion and connection.To Apply:To apply for this position please click on the apply button and submit your application.
The closing date for this position is 3 February 2025.Please ensure that you provide a cover letter, current resume and answer screening questions based on the key selection criteria.The successful applicant will be required to undergo a full employment medical and police check.Key Selection CriteriaProject management: produces project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified; regularly communicates with and supports project team members; ensures project objectives are met by anticipating and managing potential and emerging issues.Stakeholder and community engagement expertise: Ability to support SIAGs to identify opportunities for and oversee delivery of flexible place-based funding.
This will include considering the existing evidence base and contributions of place-based initiatives to build on emerging evidence.
Ability to engage and liaise effectively within the organisations, with service providers and the wider community.Experience leading, facilitating or participating in Committees and Advisory Groups.Demonstrated capacity for problem solving: seeks all relevant information for problem solving; liaises with stakeholders; analyses issues from different perspectives and draws sound inferences from information available; identifies and proposes workable solutions to problems; implements solutions; evaluates effectiveness and adjusts actions as required.Initiative and accountability: proactive and self-starting; seizes opportunities and acts upon them; takes responsibility for own actions.Significant experience supporting marginalised community members in the development and delivery of projects and initiatives.High level communication skills, including the ability to present information in a logical and audience sensitive manner.The City of Ballarat is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing a safe and inclusive working environment that embraces and values diversity, flexibility and child safety.
