About the opportunity There is currently one (1) permanent full-time position available for immediate filling.
The Shark Response Unit (SRU) manages and delivers important shark hazard mitigation projects such as the Shark Monitoring Network, the SharkSmart WA app and website, shark deterrent device rebate, and Beach Emergency Numbers (BEN) signage.
As the Project Officer – Shark Response, you will provide comprehensive project and operational response support in the development and delivery of the Western Australian Shark Hazard Mitigation Strategy. As part of the Shark Response Unit, you will be contributing value to community safety, ensuring the effective management of shark incident response and public notification systems.

An interest in the marine environment and public safety programs.A proficiency in digital systems and database management, ensuring data integrity and leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency.Excellent interpersonal skills to foster and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.An ability to manage competing priorities while consistently delivering high-quality work, particularly in high-pressure situations such as a shark incident response.Well-developed communication skills, including the capability to write clear, concise, and effective reports and procedural documents.How to Apply Click the Apply button and attach the following to your application:

Employment Conditions and Additional Information DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
Am I eligible to apply? To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia. To be eligible for a fixed term or a casual appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period as part of your application.
You will be required to provide a current National Police Certificate (police clearance) before commencing employment. If not currently held, this must be acquired prior to appointment at the applicant's expense.
