The Project Officer (Science Writer) plays an important role in the Commissioner's team by providing proofreading and supporting science writers and communication advisors in extending science research and writing capability. The role involves synthesising and presenting complex information. A systems thinker with strong technical, analytical, and writing skills is required, along with an aptitude for project management. The candidate should enjoy working as part of a small team and will often engage directly with stakeholders. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are preferred, with strong stakeholder management and public presentation abilities. The candidate must be able to consult purposefully with stakeholders from government, business, academia, non-government organisations, and the broader community.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications PhD qualification in an environmental management or science disciplineScience writing qualifications or demonstrated experience (e.g. academic thesis)This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 Months. The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street, East Melbourne, with hybrid work arrangements available.
