Project Officer (School Lunch Program)

Under the direction of the School Lunch Program Manager, the Project Officer is responsible for supporting participating schools to implement the School Lunch Program in their designated region.
Remuneration The position is covered under the conditions of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 and is aligned with Level 4, plus superannuation. Salary Packaging is available.
The position is part-time 22.5 hours per week whilst Tasmanian Government funding for the School Lunch Program is available.

Responsibilities and Duties Consult with schools to determine their needs in the delivery of the School Lunch Program.Develop ongoing relationships with participating schools, including visits to schools at least two times each term.Regularly report on the progress of the School Lunch Program, including identifying successes and potential barriers.Support participating schools in the development and implementation of their School Food Plan.Support regional communities at local levels to engage with the School Lunch Program.Provide input into the evaluation process, led by the Menzies Institute of Medical Research, for students, parents, school staff (teachers, Principal, Food Service Managers).Provide input into the School Lunch Program Operational model to ensure meals are prepared in accordance with relevant guidelines and food safety requirements.Collect and collate school-initiated data to measure components of the program as determined by School Food Matters and Evaluation teams. E.g., concentration in afternoon lessons, etc.Provide input into the delivery of specific food preparation skills and food literacy for identified staff in collaboration with Primary Health Tasmania dietitians.In consultation with schools, identify and support the link between the School Lunch Program and the school curriculum.Maintenance of detailed records in relation to school visits and communications using a database and other record keeping practices specific to the School Lunch Program.Attendance and participation in team meetings.Key Skills and Attributes Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.Sound written communication abilities, coupled with strong attention to detail in monitoring project activities and maintaining accurate records.Ability to work collaboratively with a State-wide team.Experience and understanding of health promotion principles.An understanding of Australian Curriculum and its potential links to student health and wellbeing.An understanding of healthy food, including preparation and food safety in small-medium scale catering.Demonstrated organisational skills and time-management skills and the ability to achieve outcomes within stated timeframes and prioritise workload.Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously with a high degree of transparency and integrity.Hold a current Tasmanian drivers' licence with the willingness to undertake intrastate travel.Current 'Working with Vulnerable People – child related activity card, or the ability to acquire.SELECTION CRITERIA (to be addressed in application)
