Brief DescriptionWork alongside DKA's remote focus team to improve education and employment outcomes in remote communities. We're looking for someone who is culturally aware, good at working with others, coordinating and facilitating meetings, and gathering information. The day-to-day activities involve talking to stakeholders and finding out what's needed for economic and workforce development to help achieve the Closing the Gap targets in remote communities.About the Role:Desert Knowledge Australia (DKA) is seeking an experienced, motivated, and culturally aware individual to fill the role of Project Officer - Remote Workforce Development. This position has been established to support DKA's collaboration with the Northern Territory Government (NTG) in achieving improved education and employment outcomes in remote communities.This position is offered at 0.8 FTE to project completion on June 30, 2025.DeliverablesEstablish and maintain strong working relationships with funding partners, service, education and training providers, and the community.Gather information and data on education, employment, and job vacancy statistics across communities in Central Australia.Work with local people in communities to inform and validate data collection.Conduct research and data analysis on employment and education opportunities across Central Australian communities.Provide and present reports to government agencies and community leadership to inform community visioning workshops.Collaborate with government agencies to incorporate outputs from community visioning workshops into the community workforce plans.Deliver reports to inform NTG and Federal workforce development priorities in Central Australian communities.Essential QualitiesCultural Awareness and Sensitivity: The ability to work respectfully and effectively with remote First Nations communities, with an understanding of cultural practices and sensitivities.Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, including community leaders, government agencies, and service providers.Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government agencies, community members, and service providers.Project Management: Proficiency in managing projects, including planning, administration, and reporting, ensuring that project deliverables are met within set timelines.Research, Analytical and Report Writing Skills: Competence in gathering, analysing, and interpreting data related to education, employment, and workforce development including the ability to write reports.Adaptability and Flexibility: Ability to work in a dynamic environment, adjusting to changing circumstances and requirements, particularly in remote settings.Problem-Solving Ability: Capacity to identify challenges in remote workforce development and develop effective solutions that are practical and culturally appropriate.Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and stakeholders, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.Desired SkillsRemote Community Engagement: Experience working in remote communities, ideally in Central Australia, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in these areas.Experience in Workforce Development: Previous experience in developing and implementing workforce plans, particularly in remote or Indigenous communities.Vocational Education and Training (VET) Knowledge: Understanding or ability to quickly establish an understanding of VET systems, including programs, funding mechanisms, and best practices for workforce development in remote areas.Community Development: Skills in working with remote communities, including the ability to facilitate community engagement and participation in workforce planning.Project Coordination: Experience in coordinating complex projects that involve multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and educational institutions.Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.At DKA, we respect each person's strengths and experience – as part of a dynamic organisation, you will self-manage your work and use initiative.
