About the opportunity The position of the Project Officer will provide you with an opportunity to join a highly motivated team, develop your knowledge base and grow your corporate career within Council and the Property Development Industry. As a Project Officer, you will be responsible for best supporting and assisting the team by:
Providing a range of project management and support services for the full development lifecycle to achieve project milestones,
Assisting with project related activities around acquisition, leases/licences, asset management, planning, development and financial control, marketing and sale of various land development projects within approved limits.
Facilitating and investigating property solutions through leasing, tenancy, statutory (property) and other development opportunities. This includes the identification and recommendation for developed / undeveloped land or facilities for commercial and or community assets.
Assisting in the management of Council's property portfolio through sustainable asset management and financial management practices.
Demonstrating an innovative and adaptable approach that supports the achievement of Penrith City Council's values contributing to achieve excellent sustainable development that reflects community aspirations, through collaboration with government and industry, and
Understanding owner / client and tenant objectives and timeframes for completion of effective project management, lease management, driving continuous improvement and improved revenue opportunities.
We are looking for a team player with a positive attitude and a passionate interest in local government property to join our team on a temporary full-time basis for a period up to 12 months. You will be motivated to contribute to the growth of our Property Portfolio program and excel working within an organised structure. We'll provide the training to become successful in your role and you'll be part of a highly motivated team of property professionals.
Being a collaborative, professional team player who is committed to operational excellence, you'll be working with the whole property development team to meet its goals. Although extensive property experience is not required, exceptional customer service, stakeholder management, effective analytical skills and an understanding of government policy and legislation, public land management, valuations and project management will all be looked upon favourably.

Experience and/or a tertiary qualification in project management, development management, property economics, valuations, planning or related field.Experience in land and property development projects and/or property and leasing management including: investigating land development opportunities, planning processes, financial management and budgets, project delivery, specialist contract and leasing management and stakeholder and community engagementUnderstanding of the delivery of property development projects in a government environment.Experience interpreting the Local Government Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Retail Leases Act and Crown Lands Act.
