THE ROLE An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated individual to work as part of a team and in partnership with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to deliver on the government's commitment to Aboriginal self-determination and self-management, as outlined in the vision of the Aboriginal Children's Forum and Wungurilwil Gapgdapduir: Aboriginal Children and Families Agreement.
A Project Officer is sought to join a team that works with stakeholders to support ACCOs to assume increased responsibility for vulnerable Aboriginal children, including those in care services. Based in the Aboriginal Initiatives Policy - Children and Families Unit, the Project Officer will oversee a range of tasks including support to team members on projects and policy which aim to address the over-representation of Aboriginal children involved within child protection, and to ensure Aboriginal children and young people have the opportunity to grow up in culturally rich and strong Aboriginal families and communities.
The successful applicant will be:
a good communicator with good written and analytical skills;have a passion for making a difference in the lives of Aboriginal children and families;have an interest in supporting the development and implementation of policy and program initiatives.ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE Provide project administrative support to the Aboriginal Initiatives Policy – Children and Families unit.Provide project support to working groups and steering committees.Provide support to the Aboriginal Children's Forum tasks and deliverables.A SPECIAL MEASURE PROVISION APPLIES TO THIS ROLE The Equal Opportunity Act 2010 provides for lawful 'Special Measure' provisions, therefore the following has been applied to this role.
