The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians. We're focused on supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can; whether through alerting them to seasonal risks like thunderstorm asthma, notifying them of contact with communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing the best health, wellbeing and care facilities in the world, being at the forefront of mental health and wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research. It's all part of the way we partner with the community to help every individual lead a healthy life.
We currently have 2 x ongoing Project Officer positions available. One reports to the Manager, Design and the other reports to the Manager, Change. There will be opportunity to work across both areas at different points in time.
About the role: The primary purpose of the Project Officer will provide support to the Capability and Development unit in successfully preparing for and executing organisational design, business improvement, and change activities and initiatives. The Project Officer will support the analysis, planning, and implementation of changes that enhance organisational effectiveness and efficiency across the department. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs, supporting the design of services and structures, and ensuring smooth transitions through effective change management strategies.To be successful in this role, you will be a high performing team member with strong analytical, written problem solving, project coordination and communication skills. The role will work closely with team members within the change and design team, and other stakeholders to develop options and creative, implementable solutions.How you'll make a difference: Support the design and implementation of design and change initiatives through cross-functional team collaboration, in line with project objectives.Conduct thorough data gathering and analyses of organisational structures, processes, and services to inform organisation design and improvement initiatives.Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to understand business needs, support in the design and delivery of tailored recommendations and aid decision making.Conduct and maintain analysis to measure and evaluate impacts of proposed changes including relevant design, finance, risk, workforce, change assessments data.Assist in the design and facilitation of workshops and stakeholder engagement activities to enable the timely delivery of key project outcomes.Assist with the documentation and implementation of change readiness, impact assessment, management and communication plans, ensuring high levels of stakeholder engagement.Monitor, evaluate, and report on the impact of project outcomes and learnings to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.Support the team in development of relevant tools and templates and training material to help uplift change management and design capabilities within the department.Assist in developing program initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.Assist in the monitoring and reporting of high priority issues, risks and trends and support the development of reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions.Establish and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate collaboration across the department and with key stakeholders.Share your expertise with others to contribute to the capability across the team and broader department.Work across multiple projects, including engaging with stakeholders, and working in multidisciplinary teams to meet emerging pressures and demands, as required.Respond flexibly and adapt approaches in order to deliver outcomes in the face of uncertainty.Apply a strong evidence base, and a range of approaches and tools, to investigate, assess and advise on the political and practical implications of government policy.What we offer: The opportunity to perform meaningful work, making direct contributions toward enabling Victorians to be the healthiest people in the world.A wide range of growth and development opportunities within the department and wider Victorian Public Service & Sector.A strong commitment to work-life balance, including a diverse array of flexible working arrangements.How to apply: Applications should include a resume and a cover letter.
