The Role: Menzies School of Health Research is looking to engage an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Project Officer who will work closely with the study teams to lead diabetes, heart disease and related chronic conditions community engagement activities. This will involve working closely with relevant stakeholder groups, including relevant health services.
The position holder will contribute to the preparation and delivery of presentations and other materials (posters, online and social media content) for community members, stakeholders and funders. They will assist with administrative tasks including preparing submissions and reports for health service partners and boards as required. The position holder will also lead the organisation of the teams' travel and meeting logistics ensuring that trips accommodate for cultural activities and community priorities.
About you: As a motivated individual, you will come with sound communication skills, both written and verbally, that enable sensitive and effective communication with a wide range of people including internal and external stakeholders and people from diverse cultures.
You also have:
Tertiary qualification in a related health field, with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of health-related research experience and/or education.Experience or willingness to undertake training in doing research consent and survey process with participants.Demonstrated experience in undertaking stakeholder engagement (identifying participants, building relationships, and ensuring participants are informed).Please see a full list of primary responsibilities and selection criteria in the position description.
