As our Project Officer, you will:
Plan and undertake activities that support the engagement and extension with primary producers and other large landholders in South East Queensland, to enable effective fire ant self-management.Provide technical advice to primary producers on the effective implementation of fire ant management, including risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment and reporting.Provide follow-up extension activities to farms as required including the delivery of treatment products and equipment.Ensure farmers are accurately reporting treatment of fire ants and are following legislative requirements such as reporting presence of suspected fire ants.Participate in workshops, meetings and engagements with primary producers to promote fire ant management activities and options.Participate in workshops with key stakeholders, maintaining effective communication and relationships and providing expert advice on fire ant management activities in accordance with biosecurity legislation.Effective coordination and tracking of project activities including project deliverables and risks.
This includes preparation of farm assessments, fire ant management plans for farms and recording of data in internal databases.Prepare documentation and provide support for ordering and distribution of treatment products and equipment relating to fire ant management.
This may include inventory management and procurement processes.Provide technical support to the operational delivery of FAST and its role in assisting the eradication efforts of the National Fire Ant Eradication Program.Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including various functions in the National Fire Ant Eradication Program and FAST.A qualification or relevant experience in stakeholder engagement and rural extension, especially with primary producers or rural audiences, would be well regarded.
