The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital is a world class specialist hospital in eye and ear care providing services across Victoria. As Australia's only specialist eye, ear, nose and throat hospital, the Eye and Ear has been providing care for the senses for over 160 years. The Eye and Ear has almost 90 different outpatient clinics for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of vision and hearing loss and provides a 24-hour emergency eye and ear, nose and throat service. Every year the Eye and Ear cares for nearly 200,000 patients, with over 136,000 outpatients, over 42,000 emergency patients and over 14,000 inpatients. The hospital recently completed a major redevelopment to create a modern internal structure and to improve access for patients, visitors and staff.

Clinical CareTeachingEducationResearchOur Values -Integrity, Inclusive and Accessible Care, Collaboration, Excellence About Role The primary purpose of the Planned Surgery Reform Project Officer is to support improvement activities and projects relating to surgery reform, specifically to advance the goals of the Planned Surgery Reform Blueprint (such as Reform 1 - Expand same-day models of care and Reform 6 - Scale high-throughput approaches) within the health service and in accordance with the Planned Surgery Access Policy.
This role will support the health service to increase planned surgery throughput, to address the growing number of long waiting patients, including those under the age of 18 and vulnerable children on the planned surgery preparation list and improve theatre utilisation, including:
Expanding same-day surgery pathways for priority procedures.Implementing a same day surgery by default policy.Implementing strategies to increase theatre efficiency.Implementing high-intensity theatre (HIT) lists.Application Closes at 05/01/2025 11:59pm.
All appointments are subject to a satisfactory Police Record Check, a working with children check (if applicable) and evidence of vaccination status. All staff must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (3 doses) and for clinical staff, patient facing staff and staff working in clinical areas, it is a mandatory requirement to provide evidence of a current influenza vaccination.
