About the role We are seeking a Project Manager – Sustainability to join our Rail Planning Branch, playing a key role in developing and delivering sustainability initiatives across the public transport network. You will be responsible for planning, leading, and managing low to medium risk projects, providing specialist advice on project and contract management, and delivering detailed designs, cost estimates, and financial justifications. In this role, you will ensure a consistent approach to project management, proactively address risks, and manage contracts, contractors, and consultants to achieve successful project outcomes.
Additionally, you will contribute to the PTA's sustainability goals by researching, recommending, and implementing policies and procedures that embed sustainability principles across all activities. You will assist in monitoring and enhancing sustainability performance, providing input on sustainability initiatives, and staying informed of local, national, and international trends. This position requires strong stakeholder management skills, as you will build positive working relationships across the PTA and with external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of sustainability-focused transport planning projects.
About You! To excel in this role, you should possess:
Tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, sustainability, or a related field, with eligibility for relevant professional membership. Substantial experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering, environmental, or sustainability projects, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget. Strong contract management knowledge with well-developed communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders and team members. Excellent research, analytical, and organisational skills with the ability to meet targets and timelines in a strategic transport infrastructure context.
