The RoleThe Australian Army Battle Lab is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the lifecycle of projects from conception through to delivery, ensuring they align with the strategic objectives of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and contribute effectively to the land force's operational capability.
As the Deputy Director Strategy and Projects, you will be required to operate within the guidelines of the Battle Lab Operations Order to administer, lead and manage the Army Battle Lab Headquarters on behalf of the Commander Army Battle Lab and act as the deputy to administratively support Army Battle Lab operations in the absence of the Commander.
You will be required to analyse current and future operational requirements to inform the development of projects that address capability gaps or enhance existing capabilities.
To be successful in this role you will be required to effectively manage personnel, financial, and material resources to optimize project outcomes while adhering to Defence procurement policies and guidelines.
You will require the ability to identify, assess and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle to minimize adverse impacts on project delivery and overall mission success.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

The Battle Lab's mission is to align doctrine and training with emerging needs in order to enable the Land domain with integrated and decisive war fighting.
In order to achieve this, the Battle Lab is made up of a Fusion cell and four branches with staff spread across all states and the Northern Territory.
The three sections within the Battle Lab consist of Army Lessons (AL), Land Domain Publications (LDP), Land Simulation & Wargaming (LS&W) and the Training Adversary System Support Centre (TASSC).

The Army Battle Lab is looking for high performing, experienced Command Enabling Project Manager (CEPM) to be a part of its evolving Headquarters.

Our Ideal CandidateTo be successful in this role you will:
Be a self-starter and able to establish the headquarters team in consultation with the COL COMD Battle Lab.Have a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, manage stakeholders, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.Have a solid understanding of project management principles, methodologies (such as PRINCE2, Agile, or PMBOK), and tools.Have the ability to think strategically and understand the broader operational context in which projects are situated.Possess sound judgment and decision-making skills, with an understanding of the implications of choices made at both project and strategic levels.Have a sound knowledge of military systems, particularly those related to command and control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (C4ISR).Have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.Have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address challenges encountered during project implementation.Be competent in managing change within an organisation, including the ability to develop and implement strategies for adopting new technologies and processes.Have a good level of computer literacy including with financial systems, proficiency in financial planning and budgeting within the constraints of Defence procurement policies.Security Clearance:Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at "Negative Vetting Level 1".
