R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited is currently seeking a knowledgeable, results-driven and enthusiastic Project Manager with a minimum of 6 years of experience to join our Wingham office.
The selected individual will work closely with team members and should excel at working in a fast pace, adaptive and collaborative environment.
The focus of this role is to service both public and private clients through a variety of current and future projects at various stages of development.
The team focuses largely on civil infrastructure design across an extensive geographic area.
There is a large variety in the types of projects, ranging from small urban reconstruction/improvements, land development including subdivisions and site plans to large scale regional road improvements.
Role Specifics Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Municipal Services and Structures, this position will involve (but is not limited to) carrying out the following tasks: Work with a team of engineers and technical staff to execute civil engineering projects for both public and private clients from inception to completion.
Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
Work with senior staff and client leads to establish overall design strategies and approaches for projects.
Serve as the main point of contact for clients, keeping them informed about project progress and addressing any concerns or changes.
Identify and mitigate risks, make strategic decisions, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Prepare cost estimates, tender packages and project documents.
Support the team in meeting client needs on projects, including client contact as required.
Assisting in project budgeting and preparation of proposals.
Lead the design implementation and day to day project coordination with overall project team.
Support project/client managers in establishing appropriate timelines for deliverables and work with multi-disciplinary design teams, throughout the offices, to drive the schedule.
Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting the professional growth and development of team members.
Other duties as assigned.

Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications The following qualifications, experience and skills are required: Graduation from a University or College program in Civil Engineering or similar civil design-related education.
Minimum six years of design and project management, preferably in the context of Civil Engineering.
Knowledge of design criteria including Regional and Local Municipal Government design practices and permitting requirements, and Ontario Provincial Standards (OPS).
Knowledge of the principles of storm water management.
Knowledge of road, sewer and watermain construction practices.
Knowledge of land development and site plan approval process.
Knowledge of sewer and watermain design criteria and a general understanding of water supply and sewage treatment.
Experience with overseeing and coordinating sub-consultants, procurement, design, construction and commissioning.
Strong analytical skills and data management with proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite of programs including MS Project for creation of detailed project schedules.
Thorough knowledge of municipal and provincial review processes and standards for permitting and approvals.
Effective technical writing and oral communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize a number of projects concurrently, leading staff teams.
A valid Ontario drivers license and vehicle.
