Transport Services is a Division within the Department of Transport, and is responsible for the delivery of transport services across all modes that provides a single user interface to the transport network.

About the Role FIXED TERM POSITION UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2026 The Project Manager sits within the Transport Improvement branch and will be responsible for the end-to-end management of a number of complex and multi-faceted initiatives within Network Operations. This role will be accountable for:
Project planning (including scope, budget and funding), and implementationContractor management - relationship management and interface with industryProject Delivery including ensuring adherence to cost and scheduleIdentification of risks and relevant mitigation strategiesThe provision of expert advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding the complexity of the initiativesRegular progress reporting and presentations to senior managementPosition Outcomes / Accountabilities Determined the scope, budget and funding of each initiativeManaged the implementation of each initiativeMet time and scope delivery objectivesRisks have been identified and informed the development of appropriate mitigation strategiesThe full benefits of each initiative/project have been realisedInternal and external stakeholders were provided with expert advice on the complexity and importance of the initiatives, which resulted in shared commitment to the timely delivery of the projectsPromoted and supported safe, inclusive and flexible team operationsKey Selection Criteria To be successful in the role the ideal candidate will excel in project delivery, translating strategies into effective programs and projects. The candidate will establish governance frameworks, define success measures, and mitigate risks to maximize outcomes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong critical thinking, resolving complex issues within a broader business context, and implementing sustainable solutions that deliver measurable results.
