The Role
Within the Project Management function, an APS 6 Project Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex project work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence's mission and policy requirements. We currently have roles to fill in a variety of areas across Intelligence Capability Division.
Our APS 6 Project Managers will engage with a range of stakeholders to shape a One Defence approach to policy and planning issues, including, but not limited to reviews, legislation, and enterprise enabling services. These Managers are instrumental in aligning our strategies and approaches to drive services and tangible outcomes for our customers across areas such as policy, business, finance, procurement, and scheduling.
We are seeking candidates to lead and inspire dynamic teams to achieve strategic objectives and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
The teams you join are diverse and highly specialised consisting of ADF, APS, and industry staff. You will also employ a high level of initiative and interpersonal skills to motivate and get the best from multiple teams across the enterprise.
We are seeking proactive Project Managers who demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing Australia's Defence capabilities while fostering collaboration and inclusivity within their team. Intelligence Capability Division are Sponsors, on behalf of the Capability Manager, for intelligence projects and products through the capability life cycle. Note we are not a Delivery Agency.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team Intelligence Capability Division, within the Defence Intelligence Group, coordinates and manages intelligence enterprise capability and critical support functions on behalf of the Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The Division is responsible for diverse services, programs/projects, and functions that enable intelligence outcomes across various Groups and Services within Defence and the wider National Intelligence Community.

Additionally, a commitment to adaptability and continuous improvement will drive innovation, ensuring the team remains responsive to emerging challenges and opportunities National security or intelligence experience is highly regarded but not essential Security Clearance:
Prior to commencement, successful applicants will be required to undergo a psychological assessment and an extensive security clearance process. As a Positive Vetting clearance is required, applicants must be Australian Citizens; be able to account for their personal background for their whole life; and be able to demonstrate suitability to work in a high-security intelligence environment.
Applicants may be able to commence on a "Negative Vetting Level 1" Clearance, however ongoing employment will be subject to attaining a Positive Vetting Clearance.
