In this role, you will be engaging in complex to very complex problem solving and issues management in the Department of Defence, Pacific Division.
Duties will include the following:
Preparation of briefings, submissions, monthly reporting and returns relating to the project progress and issues in accordance with organisational requirements.Analyse and interpret performance against agreed plans and collaboratively forecast to achieve project outcomes.Overseeing budget development and cost estimation activities for existing projects and new policy proposals for Government consideration and applying established technical, operational, professional and administrative activities, procedures and practices.Build and sustain stakeholder engagement, including the ability to communicate with influence and negotiate effectively internal to Defence, with external Agencies and International stakeholders.About our Team: The Pacific Division provides many opportunities for engagement and collaboration.
The Division's primary role is to provide program delivery and support to Pacific partners.
The Branches within the Division deliver capability development programs including infrastructure, maritime security, and the Defence Cooperation Programs.
The Pacific Maritime Branch provides program delivery and maritime security policy direction to deepen Defence's engagement and collaboration with partners across the Pacific.The Indo-Pacific Infrastructure Branch manages the delivery and maintenance of security-related facilities and infrastructure in partner nations with a focus across the Indo-Pacific.The Pacific Regional & Governance Branch sets the regional policy direction on Defence's international engagement in the Pacific.The Pacific & Timor-Leste Branch provides policy advice and manages Australia's Defence relationships with Timor-Leste, Pacific Island Countries, and Pacific Coast of Latin America countries.Our Ideal Candidate: Experience in infrastructure and maritime project management, inclusive of project financial management is highly desirable.Highly developed professionalism and interpersonal skills to liaise, collaborate and build productive stakeholder relationships with resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.Evaluate project performance against critical success factors and leading indicators, recommending changes where necessary.Proactively and autonomously manage multiple tasks, prioritise competing deadlines, and deliver agreed business outcomes within a complex environment with minimal supervision.Demonstrate highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent in high-level committees and provide high-quality and well-considered reports on project achievement.Application Closing Date: Sunday 27 October 2024
