PanAust Limited is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold mining company with operations in Laos, and pre-development assets in Papua New Guinea and Chile.
In Papua New Guinea, PanAust holds a 100 per cent interest in the Frieda River Limited Copper-Gold project, which is a transformative pre-development integrated mining, renewable energy and infrastructure project. The complete Frieda River Project represents a nation building opportunity for Papua New Guinea and a transformative sustainable development opportunity for the Sepik region. The Project will help build stronger and more viable communities by establishing necessary public infrastructure, generating skilled employment, and creating business opportunities for local people.
In Laos, PanAust owns a 90 per cent interest in Phu Bia Mining Limited with the Government of Laos owning the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates PanAust's two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.
In Chile, PanAust holds a 66 per cent interest in the Inca de Oro Copper-Gold Project through a Chilean incorporated joint venture company, Inca de Oro S. A.
The Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join our Frieda River team, initially based within our Corporate Head Office in Brisbane and transitioning to Papua New Guinea at a later time.
Reporting to the Frieda River Project Director, the role will be responsible for ensuring the continued success and project development of Frieda Rivers proposed projects.
Key Responsibilities include: Lead the project implementation business unit and relevant field projects to successfully align our activities to meet PanAust's strategic deliverables for Frieda RiverPrepare project execution plans including project organisation and structure, contracting strategy and resource plansOversee the development of detailed project implementation schedules and budgetsLook at ways to integrate vendors and EPCM contractors from the regional area, and externally, working with the Project Director Frieda River to ensure that the Shareholders interests are actively pursuedDevelop constructive relationships between internal stakeholders such as Technical Services team and Frieda River Owner's team and operational employees and ensure their objectives are aligned with PanAust's Managing Director & CEO's objectivesAssist in leading the Frieda River Project through the permitting phase to obtain the Environmental permits and Special Mining Licence permitEnsure the Site Permit database is updated and relevant permits are applied for prior to the project startingOversee audits and reviews of the Project Safety and Environmental Management Plan to seek continual improvement and uphold the highest safety and environmental standards though good safety and environmental managementProject optimisation though alternative implementation and project construction methods that reduce the timeframe to implementOversee the development of a road tender package to issue to marketSelf-perform construction management of all PanAust projects when appropriateEnsure that contracts and detailed scopes of work are prepared as the basis for engaging all external contracting resourcesRecruit and retain the resources necessary to support the implementation of the Frieda River Project, working with the Site Manager to ensure accurate resourcingFind improvement opportunities that will allow projects to be implemented both faster and with greater cost efficiencyTo be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Mining, or a related fieldPMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent preferredMinimum of 5–7 years of experience in project management, ideally within the mining or construction industries.Have a sound understanding of laws and acts within PNG in relation to work programs and projectsExperience in overseeing project development, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.Hands-on experience with mine site operations and working in remote or challenging environments.Experience working in overseas countries training up the local workforceDemonstrated experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with senior leadership to align project objectives with strategic goals.Must be willing to travel on a regular basis or do FIFO (or similar) from PNG for future position requirementsWhy Join Us?
