The key duties of the position include:As part of the Identity and Biometrics Policy Branch, your work will help protect all Australians from identity crime. The branch is responsible for the technical systems, policies, and legal frameworks that are needed to establish, protect, and verify identity.
In particular, the work of the branch includes:
Managing the identity verification services, a foundational national capability used by government and industry to verify identity.Administering the Identity Verification Services Act 2023 and developing other legal frameworks to support the operation of technical systems used for identity verification.Delivering the National Strategy for Identity Resilience and policies to enhance identity security.Administering a national victim support service and developing technical systems and legal frameworks to ensure Australians can better manage their identity documents.Working across governments and industry to implement programs and policies to better safeguard identity and ensure more Australians can engage with the digital economy.This role will work within the Identity Verification Service (IVS) Operations and Delivery Section and supports the effective delivery of three identity and biometric capabilities - the Document Verification Service (DVS), the Face Verification Service (FVS), and the National Driver Licence Facial Recognition Solution (NDLFRS).
How you can help us make a differenceWe are seeking enthusiastic and quick-learning officers to collaborate with various stakeholders to assist them with developing and maintaining information systems.
As an EL 1 - Project Manager, your responsibilities include:
Assisting in the development and maintenance of information systems relating to the identity verification services.Effectively managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Representing the department in forums.Navigating changes to the delivery of the identity verification services with key stakeholders.Identifying and understanding the needs of stakeholders to predict their business requirements.Business and technical requirements gathering.Our preferred candidate will showcase:
High level communication and stakeholder engagement skills.An ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve shared goals.Strong attention to detail and exceptional organisational and time management skills suited to a high-pressure environment.An ability to manage concurrent priority activities.Recent experience in ICT project delivery.An ability to build positive working environments, drive collaboration, and develop staff capability.Highly desirable skills: Qualifications in project management would be highly regarded.
To be eligible for employment at the Attorney-General's Department, applicants must be Australian citizens.
Applicants offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a police record check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a specified clearance level. The successful applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information.
Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
NotesA merit pool of suitable applicants may be created from this process, and will be active for 18 months after the date of this gazettal.
