The Role
Project Manager – Reporting to the Contracts Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of projects within the Oil and Gas, Mining, and Defence sectors. This is a Karratha-based role, initially requiring the successful candidate to spend time on-site to familiarize themselves with the projects and the team. After this initial period, the position can transition into a hybrid FIFO role, with a schedule of one week in Karratha and one week working from Perth.
The role involves managing project scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure that projects meet client and contractual requirements. The Project Manager will establish strong client relationships and maintain effective communication with senior stakeholders, as well as providing input into tenders, customer presentations, and supporting business development activities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, and budget, ensuring alignment with client and contractual requirements. Monitor project budgets to ensure projects are delivered within financial constraints, addressing any variances. Communicate regularly with senior management, clients, and stakeholders to provide updates on project progress, risks, and performance. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their expectations are managed and project goals are met. Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure proper risk management practices throughout the project lifecycle. Manage and allocate project resources effectively to ensure all tasks are completed on time and within budget. Lead project teams, providing direction, support, and motivation to ensure objectives are met. Ensure all deliverables meet high-quality standards and are completed in line with client and company expectations. Track project performance, using KPIs to monitor progress against the defined scope, schedule, and budget. Report progress to senior management and stakeholders. Manage changes to project scope, contracts, or deliverables, ensuring they are documented and agreed upon by all parties. Provide project-related support for tenders, customer presentations, and business development activities. Ensure all projects comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Identify opportunities for improving processes, tools, and team efficiency based on project outcomes. Lead debriefing sessions before and after any site campaign with both the internal team and clients to ensure clear communication, gather feedback, and improve future project outcomes. Oversee comprehensive site work packs, including job scope, safety requirements, and resource planning, to ensure clear and efficient site operations. Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will possess the following:
A degree either in Project Management, Engineering, or a related field (Essential). 5 – 7 years' of experience in project management roles, with demonstrated success in delivering projects within scope, budget, and timeline (Essential). Previous experience in industries such as Oil and Gas, Mining, or Defence (Essential). Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, navigating complex technical and operational challenges. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior management and stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining client relationships. Experience in risk management, resource allocation, and performance monitoring. A professional, results-driven, and personable approach to managing project teams and stakeholders. Experience in industrial hydraulics, including components (pumps, valves, actuators, etc.), system design, troubleshooting, and maintenance is highly desirable. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
