We specialise in building resilient infrastructure suited to the Defence sector, including military training ranges, guided weapons and explosive ordnance facilities, ports, marine structures, and utilities.About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with Defence expertise to lead major infrastructure projects across Australia, including regional locations.
This role is ideal for a skilled professional with a strong background in Defence-related building, civil, and marine projects.
Offering mobility and the chance to manage high-value projects over $50M, you will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning through to completion.Key responsibilities:Lead all phases of Defence projects, from initial planning and tendering (ITR/RFT) through to project handover.
Develop and manage construction plans, ensuring projects are on schedule, meet quality standards, and align with Defence objectives.Apply in-depth knowledge of Defence contracting models, including Construct Only, Design & Construct (D&C), Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), and Managing Contractors.
Ensure compliance with Defence CFI Contracting Suite standards while maintaining project integrity and performance across building, civil and marine projects.Build strategic relationships with Defence PMCAs, DSC, and other key stakeholders to secure project alignment and communication throughout the project lifecycle.Oversee design management and pre-construction activities, coordinating with consultants to ensure project plans meet operational and construction requirements, facilitating smooth mobilisation and progress.Develop project budgets, manage costs, and address risks proactively.
Formulate major contractual claims, monitor financial performance, and adjust as needed to achieve financial and operational targets.Lead and develop on-site teams, ensuring safety, adherence to Seymour Whyte's Operational Excellence Framework (OEF), and compliance with industry standards and security protocols under our DISP accreditation.The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering.Proven background managing Defence construction projects in Australia, with expertise in Defence contracting, project planning, and budget management for high-value projects (> $50M).Australian Citizenship with eligibility for Baseline Security Clearance (AGSVA).
