Group Manager Town and Rural Services $150k Base Salary Local Government Subsidised Accommodation + Other Benefits The Client Our client is a Shire Council located in Queensland's outback, this rural shire is characterised by vast, open landscapes and a strong connection to its natural environment.

The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Manager Town and Rural Services is responsible for the following: Town Maintenance: Overseeing parks, gardens, and public infrastructure.
Water Treatment: Managing water treatment plants and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Airport Operations: Ensuring Aerodrome and other town airstrips are operational and compliant.
Waste Management: Overseeing waste collection and landfill operations in the Shire.
Local Plant & Depot Management: Managing depots and associated fleet.
Staff Management: Development, monitoring and performance management of all personnel reporting to the position.
Capital Works: Coordinating local capital works in collaboration with engineering services.
Asset Management: Overseeing asset maintenance and providing input into plans.
Workplace Health & Safety (WHS): Leading safety initiatives and ensuring WHS compliance.
About You Successful applicants will possess the following: Tertiary qualifications in water or waste management are highly desirable (e.g., Cert III in Water Treatment or higher).
Experience in leadership or equivalent management positions.
Knowledge of operation and use of financial and administrative systems as they relate to Council.
(Council uses Practical, Infoexpert, Infocouncil and Microsoft Office).
Knowledge of or the ability to obtain an understanding of applicable local government policies, budget and plans.
Knowledge of applicable legislative requirements such as Drinking Water Quality Management Plans (DWQMPs) and associated reporting Extensive knowledge of water treatment and reticulation systems and water planning and control.
Knowledge of or willing to undertake training in airport management services including oversight of baggage handling contract.
Knowledge of or willing to understand contemporary waste management and landfill management practices including the monitoring of environmental health outcomes.
