An exciting, fixed term opportunity has become available for a Management Accountant to play a pivotal role in shaping project budgeting for the VBA's business planning cycle.

Position overview The Project Management Accountant is responsible for partnering closely with the Transformation Office (TO) and other stakeholders to manage the reporting of individual projects, business case assessment, and all Building Reform portfolio financials.

Reporting directly to the Director, Financial Planning and Performance and collaborating closely with the Chief Transformation Officer, the role will be a conduit for project budgeting for the VBA's business planning cycle, providing sound analytical advice, concise reporting skills, exceptional stakeholder management, and a holistic view across the VBA program, project lifecycle, and acquitting to the Department of Transport and Planning for expenditures.

What we are looking for: Extensive experience in financial and budget management in a project management environment. Demonstrated understanding of the accounting principles and standards as applied in the government sector. Demonstrated experience in financial modelling and analysis, and strong understanding of the IT program and project life cycle principles. Ability to think at the big picture level; entertain wide-ranging possibilities in developing a vision for the future; translate strategic direction into day-to-day activities. Ability to liaise and influence key stakeholders to produce detailed project plans; monitor performance against objectives and manage project risks. Substantial experience in preparing complex briefs and reports using clear, concise language; ability to edit written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs. CA or CPA qualified with a tertiary qualification in accounting.
