The Project Management Accountant plays a critical role in financial planning, monitoring, and reporting for complex organizational projects, providing detailed financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.

Task & ResponsibilitiesResponsible for developing project plan and budgets, tracking actual progress against plans, and preparing regular operational and financial reports that communicate the financial health and performance of individual projects.Advise on the most appropriate computer-based accounting systems to deliver the desired outcomes for specific projects.Implement and, thereafter, actively maintain and enhance internal control processes to ensure integrity of reporting.Optimise existing accounting systems and develop robust forecasts and budgets that align with business strategy.Identify enhancements to performance-based financial reporting to provide management with reports to assist in decision making.Support the risk governance framework.
Ensures robust process controls are in place to protect the business from unreasonable levels of risk.Ensure adherence to all statutory compliance obligations with regulatory bodies.Provide ongoing insights into financial performance of projects and support the implementation of benchmarking KPIs and quality improvement initiatives.Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Oversee and participate in the development of financial and operating systems.Provide relevant information to the Board of Directors.Coordinate policy information and review.Develop training materials as appropriate on accounting and operating systems.Qualification & ExperienceA Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with an advanced degree such as CPA or CA will be well-regarded.
10+ years' experience in senior finance roles, including significant experience in financial leadership positions.
Success in implementing projects such as changes to accounting systems and introduction of new and complex legislation.
The ability to effectively communicate financial concepts to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
A proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment with the highest standards of excellence.
Experience at a Big Four firm preferable, but not essential.
