About the role
Reporting to the Senior Underground Geologist, the Project Geologist is responsible for timely and accurate delineation of economic mineralisation amenable to underground mining at Mungari Operation's Kundana mine.
The Project Geologist role is critical to the performance of the Geology Team, mentoring of team members, and seeking business improvement opportunities in line with our overall operational plans.
Daily activities involve:
Developing, implementing, and executing optimal drill programs (grade control, resource definition) to provide accurate delineation of economic mineralisation, and potential extension of economic mineralisation. Manage and coordinate all geological underground drilling activities and geology projects to comply with budgeted allocations, providing input into budget and forecast planning. Assisting with supervision and management of geology contractors alongside performing critical analysis (validation) on all drilling, core logging and sampling (QA/QC) to ensure the accuracy of data and thus integrity of the database. Producing wireframe models, assisting in the production of grade control block models, and ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of mining production as required. About you
You will be either be a resident of the Kalgoorlie/Boulder area, or FIFO from Perth working an 8:6 (12-hour day) roster.
To succeed in this role, you will be an experienced Geologist with prior mining geology experience and have the following attributes;
Tertiary qualification in Geology or Geosciences. 3-5 years industry experience in mine geology with preferably 2 years in an underground environment. A sound understanding of underground grade control processes, including diamond drilling. Understanding of relevant sections of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations. Drilling contractor management experience an advantage. Intermediate to Advanced skills with modelling software (Datamine, Leapfrog or similar) and database software (acQuire or similar) Contractor management and familiarity with mine planning is an advantage. Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail, strong organisational and time management skills. Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
