Mining - Exploration & Geoscience (Mining, Resources & Energy)
WA1 is seeking an enthusiastic Project Exploration Geologist to join the team at the Luni niobium discovery.
This exciting role will be based on a 2/2 roster out of the company's remote exploration camp and will be tasked with assisting in the completion of field-based activities at Luni and the regional tenement package within the underexplored Arunta Orogen.
Being part of a small team, this position will require a dedicated, hard-working individual who is interested in gaining exposure to all aspects of the exploration function and be critical to ensuring the successful completion of the company's exploration programs.
Reporting to the Senior Exploration Geologist onsite, this role will involve:
The execution of field work programs including field mapping, sampling and drilling. Supervising drilling activities, ensuring a high level of OH&S and environmental compliance, and sample QAQC. Providing in-field leadership, direction and technical assistance to other geologists, field assistants, and contractors. Assisting in the integration and evaluation of various geological, geophysical and geochemical datasets. Interrogating and validating all collected geological information to maintain a high level of database integrity. Continually seeking to improve the effectiveness of exploration processes and systems. Compiling and delivering timely data interpretation and reporting to management and other stakeholders. Proactively identifying and reporting hazards and incidents with a view to ensuring compliance with all relevant obligations (tenure, heritage, health & safety) and industry regulations. About you: To be considered for the role, you will have the following attributes:
Tertiary level degree in Geology, Geological Science or similar. Excellent work ethic, attention to detail and safety leadership. 3+ years in-field exploration experience, including exposure to AC, RC and diamond drilling. Relevant understanding of QAQC procedures, and best practice drilling and sampling practices. Experience in the use of geological software packages including QGIS and Micromine. Strong communication skills and the ability to relay information efficiently and effectively across disciplines. Self-motivated to learn new skills and develop your geological knowledge. Strong problem solving abilities. The ability to work as part of a small team in a remote environment. WA Driver's Licence (manual) & four-wheel drive experience essential.
