Due to Navantia Australia's ongoing success, we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineering Manager to join the team out of its Garden Island, Sydney office. Operating under the Design Support Contractor (DSC) contract, the Project Engineering Manager is responsible for the delivery of engineering services in accordance with the DSC contract in the allocated platform. The Project Engineering Manager will provide the leadership and management of the engineering activities, focused on the effective management of the engineering team.
Your responsibilities will include: The Project Engineering Manager is accountable for the delivery of the DSC Engineering Services in the allocated platform. Accountable for the assurance of engineering governance and adherence to established engineering processes within the Navantia Australia Quality management System (QMS), the Navy Seaworthiness N4 Library and the relevant Asset Class Enterprise (ACE) plans. Management and leadership of the multi-skilled DSC Engineering team. Management of and successful delivery of the DSC schedule and deliverables from the multi-function engineering team. Act as the principal technical advisor for customer engagement relating to engineering processes and outputs. Provide support and oversight to Program Reporting and Reviews of engineering activities– Contract Status Review (CSR), Cost Schedule Status Reporting (CSSR), Annual Engineering Work Reports (AEWR), Contract Performance Review, Combined Services Performance Review, Performance Assessment Review. Work and Resource Planning, including the Work Planning Conferences and Scalability planning. Support the Development, Deployment and Maintenance of Engineering Support Systems (tools). Ensure a collaborative and collegiate approach to the Asset Class Enterprise (ACE) is applied to all working situations. Work collaboratively with ACE organisations and promote strong relationships with ACE partners. Apply appropriate governance, processes and standards ensuring compliance with sound systems engineering principles. Follow State WHSE Acts, Regulations and accountability with leadership for the safety and wellbeing of staff and their commitment to protect the environment. Provide strategic advice in support of the ACE Enterprise's mission of delivering effective and value for money sustainment. Promote the engagement of Australian Industry in the delivery of DSC tasks. Support the Quality Manager in the compliance of DSC operations to approved plans, processes and policies. Support Continuous Improvement initiatives in accordance with the agreed Continuous Improvement and Innovations program. As the ideal candidate, you will have: A recognised and relevant university degree in Engineering. Training in project management, work planning, budgeting and Earned value Management (EVM) (Highly Desirable). Training in technical team management and leadership. Minimum 10 years' experience in engineering, ship design and/or ship repair. Proven experience in the delivery of complex engineering programs. Experience in the leadership of an engineering team. Experience delivering Commonwealth and Australian Defence Force projects. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Highly developed, proven analytical and problem-solving skills. The ability to build and maintain strong relationships and networks with key stakeholders whilst working collaboratively across a diverse and complex environment. Resilient, adaptable and someone who is comfortable making informed decisions and taking the initiative. Ability to bring people together, build relationships and manage situations in a diplomatic and professional manner. Knowledge and understanding of ASDEFCON contracts (Highly Desirable). Flexible and effective when adapting to changing priorities and complexity in a time constrained environment. Extensive knowledge and understanding of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications. Understanding of the Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSwMS) and the N4 Library.
