The Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO) project is an international effort supported by 16 countries to build the world's largest radio telescopes, led by the SKAO.
Ventia has been awarded a significant part of the contract and is leveraging our telecommunications capabilities for this exciting project.
Our scope includes the provision of power and fibre networks, and the design and commission of a Central Processing Facility (CPF) and Remote Processing Facilities (RPF) at the Australian site. The Project Engineer - Mechanical will be an integral link to the success of our business.
This position will involve all aspects of the project, starting in Welshpool and then transitioning to commissioning the Central Processing Facility at Boolardy Station, transitioning to a 2/1 FIFO roster approximately March 2025.
About the role: Oversee the design, installation, and coordination of HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standardsManage and coordinate HVAC subcontractors, ensuring timely completion, quality control, and adherence to safety regulationsCollaborate with the design and planning teams to ensure HVAC activities are aligned with the project schedule and resolve any potential delaysReview and validate HVAC designs, drawings, and technical documents to ensure accurate implementationCoordinate testing and commissioning activities for HVAC systems, working with relevant teams to ensure proper system performanceMaintain comprehensive project documentation and provide regular updates to the project management team regarding progress, costs, and challengesAbout you: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related fieldProven experience in mechanical systems installation and structural assembly in large-scale, complex projectsStrong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and structural integration for effective collaboration between mechanical services and structural assembliesAbility to interpret and review technical designs such as mechanical and structural drawingsExperienced in managing subcontractors to ensure work meets project specifications, timelines, and quality standardsAbility to collaborate with a planning team to coordinate schedules and ensure alignment with the overall project timelineGain significant project exposure working on one of the largest Australian radio telescopesDeliver the Mechanical package on the SKA projectAbout Ventia
