Boral Asphalt is seeking a responsible, organised and experienced individual to join our team as a Project Engineer based in Brisbane.
Reporting to the Area Manager – Asphalt, you will be responsible for effectively managing and coordinating asphalt projects whilst ensuring construction exceeds standards and legislation, minimising risk and ensuring that Boral meets performance expectations.
Initially, you will be joining the project team delivering the RAAF Tindal Airport Upgrade.
As part of this project, there will be a requirement to travel and work away from home in 2-4 week blocks; accommodation, meals and site allowances will be provided.
This project will be delivered in stages; when not directly involved in site activities, you will be working with the Brisbane project team delivering road maintenance and upgrade projects in SEQ.
Your day will involve: Planning, organising and overseeing the construction and operation of roadways. Determining construction methods, materials and quality standards through site inspection and customer review. Interpreting specifications, drawings, plans, construction methods and procedures. Performing & directing testing, both field and laboratory. Interpreting assignment instructions, applying procedures and selecting equipment. Organising and directing site labour/contractors and the delivery of construction materials (asphalt), plant and equipment. Establishing detailed programs for coordination of site activities. Conducting field and laboratory tests of asphalt materials. Inspecting civil engineering works for adherence to specifications, regulations and contracts. Obtaining and interpreting on-site asphalt sample and tests to determine the strength, compressibility and other characteristics that affect the behaviour of asphalt pavement. Determining the pavement design and right asphalt mix for safe traffic loading. Studying architectural and engineering drawings, site conditions and specifications to estimate total costs and meet budget. Helping prepare detailed cost plans and estimate tools to assist in tenders and quotes. What are we looking for? Proven ability with experience in civil engineering roles. Relevant tertiary qualifications in the engineering field. Contractor management experience. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines. Knowledge and understanding of project management methodology. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills and Project. Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with all people and to lead and influence people. Personal drive and results-orientation. What's on offer?
