Up to $145,000 including Super plus applicable allowance Project Engineer - Electrical / Instrumentation The Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO) project is an international effort supported by 16 countries to build the world's largest radio telescopes, led by the SKAO.
Ventia has been awarded a significant part of the contract and is leveraging our telecommunications capabilities for this exciting project.
Our scope includes the provision of power and fibre networks, and the design and commission of a Central Processing Facility (CPF) and Remote Processing Facilities (RPF) at the Australian site. The Project Engineer - Electrical / Instrumentation will be an integral link to the success of our business.
This position will involve all aspects of the project, starting in Welshpool and then transitioning to commissioning the Central Processing Facility at Boolardy Station, transitioning to a 2/1 FIFO roster approximately March 2025.
About the role: Oversee and manage on-site electrical and instrumentation subcontractors, ensuring their work meets project specifications and timelinesReview LV electrical and instrumentation control designs, including single line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams ensuring within project and industry standardsCollaborate with the project manager to develop and manage the schedule for electrical and instrumentation work, ensuring critical milestones are metMonitor and control costs for electrical and instrumentation work, evaluating subcontractor variations and managing any budget changes effectivelyServe as the main technical contact for electrical and instrumentation, liaising with the design team, subcontractors, and client to resolve queries and ensure smooth deliveryAbout you: Degree in Electrical or Instrumentation EngineeringSignificant experience with Low Voltage (LV) Electrical Systems and Instrumentation on large projectsExpertise in project engineering processes, including design review, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and budget controlAbility to interpret technical designs including P&IDs, and control diagramsHands-on experience with testing and commissioning of LV systems and instrumentationStrong knowledge of industry standards, codes, and safety regulations for electrical installationsAbout Ventia
